Promoting Personal Entrepreneurship


Two stationery shops with Xerox, spiral binding, lamination facilities were opened one at Kanchipuram and the other at Dharmapuri. Dawood (fully blind) and Murugesh (partially blind) have been successfully running the shops for the last two years and have become self-reliant.

TNPSC Exam - Group 2 and 2A Jan 2023


In house training program was arranged for 6 students from rural areas at the Youth hostel, Indira Nagar. The duration of the course - 45 days.

Skill Development


A 4 day workshop for making paper bags was conducted for 18 blind girls at the Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar.

Book Release Function - A first of its kind program


On the 26th Feb 2023 a Book Release function was arranged at the Anna Centenary Library at Kotturpuram.

The Phd Thesis of Dr Radhabai, the 1st blind woman to do her Phd in india 4 decades ago, was released as a book. Mr. J.L. Kaul, a visually challenged person, the Secretary General of AICB, Delhi and the only Padmashri recipient amongst the blind was the Chief Guest.

50 PHds and 20 Research Scholars, all visually challenged, attended.

AUMUND Engineering visits Darshini


Long term well wishers and donors of Darshini, AUMUND Engineering of Germany visited the Darshini Centre.

Setting up a Bunk Shop


One of our students Mr Mohan, MA, Bed, was selling goods in the train. Darshini helped him set up a bunk shop of his own which was inaugurated on 31st March by Darshini Trustees at Kadpadi.

Deepavali 2022 Celebrations


As the students suffered miserably during Covid time for two years, they could not meet each other, Darshini decided to have a Deepavali celebration where an open call was given to all visually challenged people as well as students of Darshini. Cultural programs were conducted. 260 people attended and were given gifts.

A Cup Sambiraani machine was donated by Darshini in October 2022.


TNPSC exam preparation camp


To help the students preparing for the Group 4 Exam of TNPSC, 2022, they were given an in-house training and guidance from 17th June 2022 for 40 days.

Computer training classes at Yelagiri


Darshini has been the pioneer in giving computer training programs to the visually challenged students. We had been doing it with the help of IIT Madras, at IIT. Now our own students from Darshini are conducting computer classes. We recently conducted a 4 day training workshop at Yelagiri in May 2022. The classes were handled by our student Dr Raja and group.

Sangamam


On 28th December 2019, The Alumni of Darshini were invited for a two-day program where enlightening talks and speeches were given by students who had completed their degrees and working as Lecturers, Professors and teachers and are now leading a very comfortable life.

Tree Plantation - Dec 7th 2019


Darshini has always encouraged environmental awareness among the students. On 7th December 2019 under the leadership of Shri M.B. Nirmal, Exnora, 20 students planted 20 trees at Corporation High School, Thiruvanmiyur.
